2022 was another busy year with new, exciting, and most importantly...impactful projects!
We served 76,046 people, and served a whole new beneficiary category.
31 new projects this year can be found in 18 schools, 8 villages, 3 health centers/hospitals, AND we completed 2 projects that impacted a whole new group -
more than 14,000 animals!
Due to severe droughts, animals were dying due to lack of water inside one of the national parks.
We also aided in disaster relief during the tragedy of Cyclone Ada - delivering essentials to over
400 villagers who lost everything during the storm.
In 2022, we drilled 22 new boreholes, repaired 4 hand-pumps, repaired 1 electric pump, and installed 5 solar projects. Once again, so many deserving people (and animals) gained access to clean water...
thanks to YOU.

TOMARI VILLAGE CHIKWAWA 📍-16.180490 lat, 34.775548 long In response to Cyclone Ana that left 100,000+ people effected - wiping out crops, food, home and livestock. We partnered with Malawi Water Project to deliver food and supplies to 65 households, and will return to repair broken pumps and reinstall biosand filters that were damaged by the storm. 325 people served |
MUA HOSPITAL-Guardians & Staff DEDZA 📍-14.284033 lat, 34.509126 long Retrofit and reinstalled electric water system with new pump and surge protector to ensure the longevity of the system - which benefits100 staff members and families (500 served) and the guardian shelter. Each patient brings at least 1 guardian (some bring as many as 4 or 5). They serve as their caretaker during their stay - 28,000 patients served and 3600+ babies born each year at Mua. Approximately 28,500 people impacted |
WIMBE HOSPITAL KASUNGU 📍-12.991343 lat, 33.686651 long Thieves stole the solar pump at this local health center that delivers 2-3 babies A DAY and treats as many as 15,000 patients each year. It is the only health clinic in the area. Patients walk miles to reach healthcare. Approximately 15,000 patients served |
MDUNGA HEALTH CENTER KASUNGU 📍-12.993499 lat, 33.851782 long Another impactful solar water system completed at a rural health center. This system was originally installed by UK Aid and the Malawi government, however when it broke down (for years!), they claimed to have no funds to repair it..so WE DID! Approximately 7200 patients treated each year. |
Nkhamenya Secondary School KASUNGU 📍-12.564920 lat, 33.510458 long This high school of 200+ students did not have their own water source, and were forced to share with the local community - which meant they had long waits for water. The long term goal of this project is to retrofit the borehole with solar. 200 students served |
Chiwale Village KASUNGU 📍-12.930561 lat, 33.957419 long Formerly collecting water from a stream and a far daily walk for the ladies. This village of 45 households now has a clean water source right in the middle of their community - no more long walks and no more dirty water. Approximately 225 people served |
Kacheula School Nkhotakota 📍-13.182794 lat, 34.226562 long Prior to receiving their new borehole, this sweet small primary school of 215 learners, 3 teachers and 48 households used to collect their water from a stream as the community borehole was often too congested and far during school hours. A brand new borehole was recently drilled for them. Thank you to Zam Zam for sponsoring this school. |
Mbirira Secondary School Nkhotakota 📍-13.586695 lat, 34.18736 long In the process of retrofitting and upgrading a hand-pump project we completed in 2018. Soon this high school of 900+ will have their very own solar water system which will allow for running water in the lab, hand-washing station, sinks in the restrooms, and taps for showers! |
